I have one of those good old 80gb Ipods Video. I love being able to take all my music with me, although I put a lot of music on it that I never listen to. Still I put it on there, either I think I will listen to it later or I just want to have it with me in case.
Every once in a while I accidentally run into something that I have never listened to (here’s a tip for apple for the new generation iPods or iTouchs: how about a function called ‘surprise me with something I have never played before’) and this time I ran into something by Hermeto Pascoal, a Brazilian icon, probably because I played my ‘Brasil’ play list on shuffle.
I love Brasil, I had a great time there meeting people in Fortaleza in 2005 during a visit for a cultural community project, and I have always had an interest in the music, the culture and the people from Brasil.
I also think Portuguese is the most beautiful language in the world. The sounds of the language and the way they sing the words is just beautiful. (That is why a ugly woman that speaks Portuguese can still be the most sexy in the world).
Back to Hermeto Pascoal: I played the song on my iPod where Hermeto puts music to a conversation (I have no Idea where he got it from or what they are saying). He plays the melody the people in the fragment are speaking, very beautifuly and inventive.
Check it out for yourself and I hope this way I can help you fall in love with the Portuguese language and Hermeto Pascoal.

I took some time off to finish a few last recordings that had to be done for my cd. I wasn’t happy with my bass sound inside so I took my recording setup outside.
Found out that there’s nothing better than playing bass outside around dusk on a summer night….
So if you hear upright bass on my upcoming record with birds whisteling in the background, it wasn’t on purpose

In the Seychelles I came across what looks like the perfect beach after a half hour walk through the jungle. It seems that there’s nothing but perfect beaches in The Seychelles. If you have a chance to go there: go!
Yes, that is me on that plamtree.

A great idea in this blog from David Harrell about pricing on iTunes and how customers can be incuraged to purchase a whole album:
“Allow variable pricing for individual songs based on purchase order. That is, charge more for the first track a customer downloads from an album, but then charge that customer less for additional downloads from that same album.
If, as far as the major labels are concerned, the “cherry picking” of individual songs is the evil downside to online digital sales, then, in exchange for a higher profits on the first song or two purchased, they might be persuaded to accept lower profits on further purchases from that album, along with a different pricing structure for older albums”
